Snow-tron the war bot!

Another model down! I decided to stick with the snow basing theme that I've got going (I miss doing snow bases). This guy is a Blight Wheel Miniatures War Bot. Overall he was fun to paint.

Anyway, just a quick update. I'll be back soon (hopefully) with the first shots of my revived Beastmen army project.

Happy Valentines day! It's an Ork.

My girlfriend is off on a trip for the next week, so I'm painting. One of the models I've gotten painted in this time is this Ork Nob:

He's made from and Ork head and arms, and a Mantic Ogre body (I'm not sure where the skull should pads comes from, i think the Chaos Knights kit). I've got a squad of 5 of these guys made up that I should get on with painting....

The triumphant return!

Hark! Is that the distant sound of angels trumpeting?

No! well, maybe. I can't really be the one to keep track of that type of thing... But what I have kept track of is how long it's been since I made a post last, almost 5 months! But worry not, I haven't died or anything equally horrible. Basically, me and my girlfriend moved in together and i got a new job - which didn't really leave all that time for hobby. But everything's settled down now, and thanks to the new job, don't need to worry about money for a little while. So everything's working out pretty good.

Ok, so, first. I've actually painted some models! (this is further evidence toward the end of days theory I opened with). I've not really settled on a particular project yet, so I've been mostly painting individual models (most of them from my big box of Reaper Bones) with the hope of incorporating them into some sort of hybrid Mordheim/dungeon crawl type game:

Purple (ish) Worm

Stone Golem

Some sort of Zombie Blood Well... Shrine.

It's a trap! A Chest-Trap.
Ok, so. I've painted 4 models. That's still 4 more than normal.

Well, that's about all for now. Hopefully my next post won't be in 5 months - there's so much that's happened in the hobby in the past couple of months, it's really a good time to collect toy soldiers.

eM-4-Miniatures Cybertech Bunkerbreaker, Phagon, and Savages.

Recently, i've become more and more interested in the oldhammer movement, and decided that now is the time to run straight to eBay and buy myself some minis (note: it doesn't take much to make me buy minis...).

After, what felt like, an age of disappointing auction results i was left empty handed. To avoid further heartbreak i decided to track down some Rogue Trader-alike models so i can start off a small army.

Enter eM-4-Miniatures. And the Pics!

All-in-all they are pretty decent sculpts (not too detailed to stand out against RT models, but then also not amorphous blobs of lead) and the casting on the Phagons (the Beastmen in SPAAAACE) was excellent.

There were a couple of what looks like air bubbles on the Trooper, but they are in places you wouldn't normally see (unless you took him out to dinner first)

Now, the savages...

These are models that i brought with no real distinct purpose. Maybe as Chaos Cultists, or Rogue Traders, or Mercenarys, or Raiders (if i ever collect the tabletop Fallout stuff), or (more obviously) a Necromunda gang.

I'm sure I'll find a use for them somewhere.

The models are all great sculpts, very characterful - the guy with the top-hat and the fat bloke are personal favorites. I look forward to painting them

In conclusion, I'm a very happy customer (so much so, I've placed a second order). I'm interested in seeing their plastics, I'll post up some pictures when they arrive.

Best get painting then...

Mars Attacks Kickstarter!

Look at that! Now, whilst I've backed Mantic's latest Kickstarter, I'm not a huge Mars Attacks fan (it was always more popular stateside than over here). But what i am, is a huge Judge Dredd fan.

Mantic's latest update had this as an upcoming goal.

Well, I'm sold.

Hobby ideas Volume 1: Orcs/Orks

Something that's been of interest to me lately is the idea of Chaos-corrupted Orcs (I mean, look at that picture!), they seem like a fun project to mess around with. I don't know if they'll work better as a 40k or Fantasy force - a fantasy force would fit in well with my United Chaos army project (that I've been working on during my blogging silence), but I 40k one would allow for more individual models, something that an army like this would require.
Another, similar, project would be the Ork Mekanicus Kult. An idea so cool that I can't believe that no one else has done it before (I'm sure many have, but my googling seems to be turning up a blank).
Of course, I can't be doing a 40k Ork army and not have a looted vehicle or two (Deffskulls are my favourite flavour of Ork) - and that Dreamforge Titan I have knocking around is just too tempting....
For the time being tho, I've already got enough on my plate. What with the new Zombicide boxes, the Reaper Bones (that's finally been shipped), Deadzone, Kingdom Death and a whole stack of Kickstarter stuff I've failed to mention (including the Dreadball stuff that keeps getting pushed back in the queue).
Although... With all my Deadzone add-ons, I've got a fairly sizeable Ork army coming my way in November...

Nagash: Not with a bang, but a whimper.

Something that slipped through the cracks whilst everyone was going a bit Vostroyan mad a little while back - The Immortal Necromancer Lord Nagash has finally met his end! Yes, that's right. During the great Collectors Range purge, Nagash himself was one of the casualties. And, because of the amount of hate directed toward his model, its extremely unlikely he'll return (unless Warhammer Forge get their act together).

Yes, yes, i know. The model is, objectively, quite bad and it's removal will bring joy to a great many people (and ruin even more "worst model" lists. [We've still got Vulkan, so all is not lost]) But this still feels like the end of an era.

So here it is, farewell sweet prince and may you find hapSKULLS SKULLS SKULLS SKULLS SKULLS SKULLS.
